As we age, many of us become less active. Physical activity and exercise can help us to stay healthy, energetic and independent as we get older.
This situation has become much worse as a result of COVID-19. A report from Age UK shows that:
- One in three older people have less energy
- One in four older people are unable to walk as far as before
- One in five older people feel less steady on their feet
We want to encourage more people to be active during later life. Age UK has some useful ideas.
This ‘Active at Home’ booklet has been produced by Sport England and Public Health England to provide practical guidance to older adults on home-based activities to maintain strength and balance. You can download the booklet here
